DJI Osmo Pocket Getting Started Guide
The OSMO Pocket is one of DJI's latest released. It combines the small form factor of a foldable drone camera, with the portability of a cell phone camera - that can literally fit in your pocket! Equipped with a 3 axis gimbal and a camera that is capable of shooting 4K at 60 frames per second, this is definitely a camera you should be checking out if you create any kind of content!
Set up is pretty straight forward, but we'll walk through it together here. You'll be up and filming like a pro in no time!
How to Setup DJI OSMO Pocket
1. Install the Proper Phone Adapter
In the box that came with your new DJI OSMO Pocket, there are two different phone adapters. One is the iPhone lightning cable adapter, the other is the Android micro USB cable. Chose whichever adapter for your phone and slide out the stopper on the front of the OSMO Pocket above the record/function buttons.
2. Download the DJI Mimo App onto Your Smartphone
You can use the OSMO Pocket with a smart phone, or without a smart phone, but to activate it - you'll need to break out your iOS or android phone and download the DJI Mimo app to get started.
3. Sign In to Your DJI Account
To activate the warranty, you'll need to sign into your DJI account. Don't worry, if you don't have an account with DJI yet, you can sign up for one from this first screen.
4. Follow the On Screen Instructions
After signing in, you'll have to follow the on screen instructions to agree to terms and follow the on screen tutorial on how to basically navigate the on screen controls for the OSMO Pocket.
5. Go Out & Create!
You're no ready to go out and shoot some super smooth video, buttery motion lapses or time lapses! Using the OSMO Pocket isn't like any other small action camera you've used before and takes some getting use to. Especially when it comes to moving and framing your subjects. A great tip here is to use Active Track to track your subjects while filming so you can focus on keeping a steady hand for that buttery-smooth footage!
To engage active track on a phone, simply draw a rectangle box around whatever you'd like to track with your OSMO Pocket. If you're not using a phone with the app, double tap on the OSMO Pocket screen and the OSMO will target the object. It's not as precise when you're not using the app since the screen is smaller - so I'd recommend using the app and larger screen if you're able to!
