The Best Drone for 2020 | Mavic Air 2 Review

Mavic Air 2 is a huge improvement over its previous version. The controller is larger but allows you to use your phone in a case in the controller. The drone is slightly larger, but it uses OccuSync 2.0 and the image transmission is significantly better than the original Mavic Air. The Drone is heavier, but it features more flight modes and recording options - including 4K 60fps and 1080p 240 fps!!

I've been using the Mavic Mini, as well as the Mavic 2 Pro - and the Mavic Air 2 seems to fit in between these two drones... kind of. In every way, except for size, this drone is better than the Mavic Mini, but in some ways the Mavic Air 2 is better than the Mavic 2. It's a newer drone, so it has newer features but it can also shoot in 4K 60fps, which the Mavic 2 Pro cannot.

Mavic Air 2 Transmission System

Does Mavic Air 2 Use Wi-fi?

Mavic Air 2 has an absolute joy to fly. The new transmission system transformed this drone over the original Mavic Air. If you've ever flown the original MA, you'll know what I'm talking about - tons of dropouts and lost connections due to the old enhanced wi-fi transmission system. I've been flying the Mavic Air 2 for a few months now, and haven't experienced single stutter or drop in connection! The transmission system is clear and stable!

Mavic Air 2 Price

Is the Mavic Air 2 Worth It?

A popular question is, how much does the Mavic Air 2 cost, and is the Mavic Air 2 worth it? The Mavic Air 2 sits between the Mavic Mini and Mavic 2 drones in terms of cost but for the price, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck. Based on the specs, modes and capabilities of the Mavic Air 2, I would say it's worth it to purchase if you're looking a beginner to an intermediate drone, but with the 4K 60 video and 48MP photos - it's capable of doing commercial work as well!

The Mavic Mini costs $399 ($499 for Fly More). The Mavic 2 Pro costs $1,599 (Zoom is $1,349). The Mavic Air 2 Costs $799 ($799 for Fly More). The Mavic Air 2 sits between these two drones and has a few features that even the "higher end" Mavic 2 drones don't have - like the 4K 60 and improved intelligent flight modes and tracking.

Can You Zoom with the Mavic Air 2?

You cannot zoom with the Mavic Air 2, the only Mavic drone you can zoom with the Mavic 2 Zoom right now. You can, however, film in 4K and edit in a 1080p timeline and zoom in post-production. It's another step, but you'll be able to zoom in on your subjects without buying a Mavic 2 Zoom just for it's zoom function.
