Enroll for FreeThe battery life for the Mavic Mini is pretty good at 30 minutes, or in our testing around 23 minutes while flying aggressively. Having more batteries is always a good thing, even if you ordered the Mavic Mini Fly More kit. If you're out of power, you can't fly!
If you travel on airplanes: Mavic Air Battery Safe Bag for you batteries for safe transport of lithium batteries.
When it comes to storage, more is definitely better. Nothing like being out with a fully charged drone, and running out of storage space on the Micro SD Card... been there, done that - and learned the lesson. Always have more storage than you think you'll need!
As soon as I saw the Mavic Mini release video, DJI showed a charger that looked like a display case for the Mavic Mini. I was hoping it would be included in the base or at least the Fly More Combo, but it is an additional accessory. It looks pretty cool, but the down side is it only charges on battery at a time. This is a neat way to show off your Mavic Mini on your desk though!
The best way to charge multiple Mavic Mini batteries is the two-way charging hub. This hub acts as a battery bank to charge all of your batteries, or you can use it as a power bank to charge other devices. Really handy! If you ordered the Mavic Mini Fly More Combo this was included with your package.
The Mavic Mini might be pocket-sized, but that doesn't mean you should actually take it around with you in your pocket. Protect your drone! If you have the Mavic Mini Fly More Combo, you can use the bag included as a great way to protect your drone, but it's more of a case than a durable bag or hard case. If you don't have the Fly More Combo though, the bag is available for purchase separately as well!
I've also included some of my personal favorite laptop/camera/drone bags and cases below. They are more expensive than the Mavic Mini bag, but they are bigger and they have more uses than just storing the camera.
Lowepro ProTactic 450 AW is a durable and big camera bag that can carry around Mavic's, DSLR/Mirrorless cameras and a 15in laptop and more! It's a beast bag that is especially great while traveling. If you're looking for something smaller, I've used the Incase DSLR Pro pack everyday for the past 7 years now! It's a great lighter-weight bag I use to take my laptop/camera/drone to and from work.
The Pelican 1510 is the go-to for professionals who want the maximum protection for their equipment. I have a larger case, but regret buying the bigger one, since it can't be carried on an airplane. This pelican case can, and will keep all of your Mavic and DSLR/Mirrorless gear nice and safe.
Wether this is your first drone, or your 10th drone - you're going to need more propellers. This is a reality that is true for even the most skilled drone pilots, if something happens and one prop has a small crack or is damaged - it's a good idea to swap out the propellers to keep the drone flying as expected. Damaged props lead to flight instability and can cause some very weird things to happen during flight. Definitely worth keeping an extra set or two on hand, and don't be shy about replacing the props!
This adapter kit allows you to attach a LED light or other connect block to the Mavic Mini and add accessories to the top! Pretty cool to be able to mount a light to the top of your drone straight from DJI! There were other 3rd party adapters for previous version of the Mavic's but this is the first time DJI is offering "blocks" to attach to your drone. Pretty neat, but this has been out of stock for me everytime I try to order! Get it if you can find it in stock anywhere!
Take your Mavic to the next level of customization with the Mavic Mini Creative Kit! This is a unique way to customize your drone. Includes the markers, stickers and cleaning wipes for application.
Landing pads are useful with the Mavic Air since it has such a low-profile to the ground and an object could jar the gimbal while landing. They can be helpful for taking off in grass as well so the props dont hit anything. The best part is, these are slim and don't take up much room.
DJI Care Refresh is a great option that is "cheap insurance" for your drone through DJI. "Cheap" because this program offers you a replacement drone if you crash, for about $35
As a side note, if you're in The United States (not sure about other countries) and have renters insurance, some policies will cover the drone. It's worth a call to your broker, but keep in mind if you have to use the insurance you will need to file a claim and go through the insurance process. The beauty of DJI Care Refresh is that your premium wont go up after the fee. Worth looking into, I have renters insurance and still purchased DJI Care Refresh since my deductible was higher.
There are a number of applications you can use to edit your photos and videos after you've shot them, my favorite is using the Adobe suite of products. This includes Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, Media Encoder, Illustrator and more. It is pricey, but for the constant updates and complete suite of apps that I use everyday - the price tag is worth it to just work.
If you only need Lightroom and Photoshop, there are plans that allow you to only use those programs and pay less than usual. The full Creative Cloud features a massive suite of apps.
You'll quickly learn that the more you fly and record video and photos, the more hard drive space you're going to need. Even if you have enough internal space on your hard drive, having additional hard drives for backing up your footage is also a great idea. There are a few options linked below for cheap hard drives that I order on Amazon. I have a huge stack of these drives that I label with my label maker the year and what is on them.
These are my top recommendations to accompany your Mavic Mini! I'll be updating this list as more accessories are released for this drone as well.
Here are a few honorable mentions that didn't make it into the main list, but are still helpful!
